Job Overview:
As a Commercial Site Superintendent at SSC Construction, you will be responsible for overseeing and administering the onsite day-to-day general operations of one or more construction projects from start to finish. Your role will involve ensuring compliance with building plans, codes, and specifications, as well as maintaining quality control, managing subcontractors, and ensuring project deadlines are met. This position requires extensive knowledge of commercial construction processes, strong leadership skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with project stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Project Oversight and Administration:
- Oversee and administer the day-to-day operations of assigned construction projects, ensuring adherence to plans, codes, and specifications.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources to ensure successful project completion.
- Communicate effectively with trade partners, suppliers, building officials, owners, and SSC team members.
- Quality Control:
- Ensure quality control of workmanship and product conformance to approved specifications.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify and address any quality issues promptly.
- Critical Path Management:
- Monitor the critical path assigned to the project and ensure deadlines are met.
- Provide guidance to subcontractors and hold trade partners accountable for meeting project milestones.
- Issue Recognition and Problem-Solving:
- Identify potential issues such as schedule slowdowns, material shortages, etc., and implement strategies to mitigate risks.
- Provide problem-solving solutions to ensure project success and minimize delays.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain daily logs monitoring environmental conditions, manpower, jobsite progress, and shortcomings.
- Keep accurate records of project activities, including safety meetings, OSHA logs, and other documentation as required.
- Safety Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety requirements and maintain a safe work environment on the jobsite.
- Lead safety meetings, conduct OSHA logs, and monitor workplace conduct from all subcontractors and company employees on the jobsite.
- Travel and Remote Work:
- Be willing to travel extensively within Florida and occasionally stay overnight as required by project locations and needs, with most projects based in Central FL.
- Operate remotely as needed to support project needs and ensure effective communication with project teams.
- Experience in Hotel Construction:
- Experience in hotel construction projects is ideal.
Qualifications:
- Thorough understanding of commercial construction processes, building plans, codes, and specifications.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with project stakeholders.
- Proven experience in project oversight and administration in the construction industry.
- Ability to manage project schedules, budgets, and resources effectively.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements and compliance.
- Willingness to travel extensively within Florida and occasionally stay overnight.
- Experience in hotel construction projects is preferred.
